Uniform Division
The Uniform Division is the most visible member of the St. Clair County Sheriff's Office, providing services to the citizens, businesses, and visitors. Each Deputy works to protect life and property, ensure the civil rights of individuals, maintain public peace, provide citizen assistance, enforce criminal and motor vehicle laws, and respond to emergencies. The Uniform Division is organized into day and night shifts. Two Captains command this division, and it is directly supervised by two lieutenants and four sergeants. The Uniform Division's primary responsibilities are to:
- Respond to calls for service.
- Conduct preliminary investigations into crimes that are reported.
- Deter criminal activity.
- Serve civil processes and court orders.
- Enforce the criminal and traffic code.
- Maintain order.
- Identify community problems.
- Help in creating a safe and comfortable community in which people can live, work, play, and grow.
