Communications
St. Clair County Central Dispatch is located at 1610 Cogswell Avenue in Pell City and is supervised by the Administrator of Operations Center Freddie Turrentine. We dispatch for eleven law enforcement agencies and twenty-five fire departments. This is the only PSAP (public safety answering point) in St. Clair County as all 911 and non-emergency calls are dispatched through our call center. Currently, we use five computer screens at eight workstations that are essential for answering and dispatching calls quickly and CAD (computer-aided dispatch) to log all incoming calls and keep track of the information, along with mapping and NCIC. Our dispatchers undergo many hours of training and are all EMD (emergency medical dispatch certified) providing citizens with EMD pre-arrival instructions for medical calls. Dispatchers work 12-hour shifts, weekends, and holidays. The dispatch center began receiving texts from 911 in 2021. Phone: 205-884-3333 Fax: 205-338-4129 |
