Meet the Sheriff

    

Sheriff Billy J. Murray has proudly served the citizens of St. Clair County for the past thirty-two years. Currently serving as Sheriff. Sheriff Murray began his law enforcement career in 1992 with the Springville Police Department, followed by stints with the Odenville and Pell City Police Departments.  In 1996 Sheriff Murray began his career with the St. Clair County Sheriff's Office. Sheriff Murray has held many leadership positions within the Sheriff's Office including Investigator, SWAT Team Leader, SWAT Team Commander, Reserve Commander, Captain, Undersheriff, and Assistant Sheriff. In 2018 Sheriff Murray was elected as Sheriff of St. Clair County. Sheriff Murray believes that "a Sheriff must be heavily involved in the communities he serves". It is with this message in mind that Sheriff Murray has blended community service with producing a modern and efficient Sheriff's Office.
