Field Training Program
Honesty, Integrity, Professionalism, Hard work, and Dedication are Sheriff Murray's core values and as such are the values required of all who aspire to be a deputy at the St. Clair County Sheriff's Office.
The Field Training and Evaluation Program (FTEP), is dedicated to training personnel who demonstrate competency in their skill sets and compatibility with our values. Using objective criteria in a structured and closely supervised program trains and evaluates probationary patrol deputies. It is designed to move new hires toward superior performance in on-the-job situations successfully, identifies compliance and/or deficiencies in work performance, documents procedures, and provides a mechanism by which performance can be evaluated.
Training involves multiple weeks in the classroom and on patrol obtaining in-depth knowledge of policy and procedure, verification of knowledge and skill sets, software utilization, and obtaining additional certifications. FTEP aims to produce a fully trained, competent deputy sheriff who serves our community and reflects the values of the St. Clair County Sheriff's Office.
