Attempted Armed Robbery in Cropwell

Event: Attempted armed robbery 

Location: Shell Station in Cropwell 

Timothy Jones, a 44-year-old black male from Hale County entered the Shell gas station in Cropwell around 4:30 am on the morning of January 12 wielding a knife. 

In the course of an armed robbery, the suspect was shot and killed by the store clerk. 

The St. Clair County Criminal Investigation Division is investigating this incident. More information may be released soon.
