St. Clair County Sheriff's Office has been providing law enforcement services to the citizens of St. Clair County since 1818. Our County is unique with having two county seats and is one of two counties in the state of Alabama to have this distinction.
St. Clair County spans 654 square miles with a population of over 91,103 people. The Sheriff is responsible for law enforcement response in the unincorporated areas of the county and assists the municipalities as the need arises. The St. Clair County Sheriff's Office operates the St. Clair County Jails in Ashville and Pell City and is responsible for security for all Judicial Proceedings. Our law enforcement divisions include Patrol, Criminal Investigation, Narcotics, 911 Emergency Dispatch, and Civil, and we provide Courthouse Security, along with administrative and tactical support.
Our School Resource Officers have a strong presence in our schools, building relationships with our educators and children to ensure a safe environment for all.
The Sheriff's Office employs 85 sworn law enforcement deputies and operates 24 hours a day and 7 days a week to provide professional law enforcement and promote community involvement.
